Rainbow

We came home to this rainbow one day last week. I took this picture from our driveway. If you look close there are two rainbows.

Fiction Friday

This is a continuation of last week's fiction Friday. If you haven't read it yet, go here.

It was time to make my move. I headed over to the tattooed guy's table, going around to the other side of him where the stroller sat.

"What a cute baby."

"Thanks, he's my sister's kid. Her regular baby sitter got sick, so I'm filling in for the day."

"Lucky she has such a good brother. I noticed your body art from my table. I'm an amateur photographer, and I wondered if I could take some pictures?"

Of course he was delighted, I even made sure several of them were of him and his little nephew. Most of the shots were of the two men a couple of rows over. The cop and his friend. I had been following the cop for days. He was dirty, but we needed proof. I didn't know who his friend was, but it was my job to get pictures of anyone he met up with. The two men got up to leave.

I handed tattoo guy a pen and paper. "Let me have your address and I will send you some of the pictures"

Busy, busy, busy

I am getting so terrible at posting! Now that my oldest is in school, our whole schedule has changed. We get up a lot earlier, so I go to bed a lot earlier! I am also planning things with my little one now that it is just the two of us. She finger painted for the first time yesterday! I showed her what to do and coaxed her a bit. But after she spread some paint around on the paper the first time she said "towel?". So I had to explain that she didn't need a paper towel, that she was supposed to get messy. She finally got into it. Although being 19 months old, it of course didn't last long. I did get one very nice masterpiece then it was off to a bubble bath to play! I was going to pull out her little pool but it looked like it was going to rain all day.

This morning we have storytime at the library and this afternoon after school we are supposed to go to the mountains to meet up with my husband's grandparents. But, although my posting may be sporadic, I am still reading and commenting everywhere else. I have a bunch of pictures to post later this week, I just haven't gotten around to transfering them yet. And I really need to paint the baby's room so I can move her and her crib back in there.

I'm such a procrastinator!

Fiction Friday

The cop was having a nice lunch with his friend. Just minding his own business on his own time. His friend was dressed casually in t-shirt and jeans. Another off-duty cop? Possibly. I watched them from my table across the food court. I could only see the cop from behind but his friend was clean cut with a thin mustache. I wondered if they would be done soon.

That is when I saw him. He was perfect. He had long scraggly hair, a bushy mustache, and his arms were covered in tattoos that the black t-shirt didn't hide at all. His ears were not just pierced but had the stretched lobes as well. His whole appearance screamed hippie meets tribal. Except for the baby stroller he was pushing.

He ordered from the pizza place and chose a table two rows on the other side of the cop and his friend. I glanced over to see they were about done, I would have to make my move soon.

Limerick

My friend Amber (who comments occasionally as Bubbles) and I wrote a Limerick while talking on MSN messenger. I started it with one line, then she had to make up a line that rhymed, and so on and so forth. Just a little silly fun. Here is what we got:

There once was a man with a limp,
Who talked so bad he was a gimp.
He decided to become a pimp
Now we just call him an imp.
The girls he hired were hot.
They would go down on you on the spot.
It turned out that girls they were not.
So now we all go smoke pot.

My new pet!

I am being a little silly today and adopted a new pet. If you scroll down to the bottom of my sidebar you will see him. Yama the Llama. Play with him, if you click him he makes noises.

My silly baby

Yesterday my 19 month old wanted to go outside because her Daddy was here working on something. I wouldn't let her go, so she sat in the floor to cry, normal tot antics. Then she laid down and really got into it. So I told her to come to me (on the couch) and give me some lovings.

*very calmly* "no."

Excuse me? Did my sweet innocent tot just say her first no? "Come give momma kisses."

*tiny arms cross on chest* "no."

I was rolling. I mean I know you aren't supposed to laugh but it wasn't like I told her to do something she had to do. She was just mad at me and didn't want to love on me. It was even more funny because this was the first time she has actually said the word no. Although I'm sure it won't be the last time!

After her Daddy was done outside he took her for a ride and she gave me kisses later when she wasn't mad anymore!

Night at the movies

I finally made it out to see The Fantastic Four. Very good movie if you're into that kind of thing. Instead of a review, how about a few pictures from the show.

Chris Evans plays the Human Torch, very hot. In more ways than one.

Julian McMahon was very good at being very bad.

Oh yeah, Jessica Alba was in it too. How was that Mr G?

Johnny Depp

In my Eye Candy post, it was pointed out by more than one person that I forgot Johnny Depp. So here he is!

I even threw in Orlando Bloom as a bonus.

Fiction Friday

The Darkness Within

I hear crying.

Where is it coming from? It is so dark all I can see are the dim outlines of tall buildings. The street I am on is wide and empty. Strange that there are no cars, it must be very late. The crying is coming from an alley. I'm afraid to go in there.

The crying is louder now and I can tell it is a child. I go in, the alley deadends at a brickwall. She is there against the wall, small and dirty. "Let me take you out of here" I tell her.

" I can't leave, this is where I belong." She looks up at me with a tearstreaked face, oddly familiar.

"Why do you belong here?"

"Because this is where he put me. He told me to stay here and never leave."

"Who is he? Why can't you leave here?"

She doesn't answer, only looks behind me. I turn to see what she is looking at. The buildings that were once behind me are gone. In their place there is only desert broken here and there by large rocky hills. On the closest and largest hill he sits. Staring at us with cold yellow eyes. I should be shocked to see a black leathery dragon, but for some reason he looks familiar too.

"You should not be here. These are things you do not want to see." his voice is deep and raspy.

"Why must she stay here? And why are you two so familiar to me?"

He laughs a deep rusty laugh. "Why are we familiar to you? Because we are you. The child is your true self, the you who was open and trusting. The you who was hurt one too many times."

"I am your inner darkness. Your anger, your bitterness towards those who hurt you. Your loneliness now that you let no one in. I protect the child and keep her here, where she cannot be hurt."

I look at him for a long moment. Then back at the child. She is me, I see it now. The hopefulness I once had. The eyes only lack the pain I feel. She wants to leave. I look back towards the dragon. "She wants to leave. I want her to leave."

He shifts a little, looking closer at me. "So be it. But, I will be here always. Hidden within you."

I take the little girl's hand, and we walk away. The scenery changes again and we see houses and streets. It is light out now and I recognize this as my childhood neighborhood, only cleaner and nicer than it was in real life. The girl-me stops and looks at me. "I am where I belong now. It is time for you to wake up."

The next moment I am looking at my ceiling. I'm in bed, where I belong. As I drift back to sleep I hear the faint laughter of a little girl.

Eye Candy

Hugh Jackman, Brad Pitt, and Chris Evans. Oh My!

I couldn't think of anything meaningful to post today. So I figured I would just post something nice to look at!

Regular meaningful posts will resume soon.

This is so me!

Slow and Steady
Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy.

They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder.

It'd really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment.

They expect you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually decide against it.
