Room number 2

Here is room number two. It is a three year old boys room. It already had an existing chairrail so the plan was brown on the top, red on the bottom. This boy is a huge Spiderman fan, and the red looks very spidermanish.

Bubbles and I removed the wallpaper. It took HOURS.

Wallpaper off, next was cleanup. After this we called it a night.

Bubbles, her parents, and hubby painted the top brown. I came over later, and helped with the red. Here is me getting started.

My kids waiting for their daddy to pick them up.

I haven't transferred all the pictures from my camera yet. I will post a picture of Room number two after we finished tomorrow. I am also planning a post of what the guys did to the living room.

Painting!

I know, it is a day later than promised, but better late than never, right? Here are some pictures of us fixing up room number one, the Master Bedroom. We had everything we needed, paint, supplies... stepladder? We forgot the stepladder. Pretty funny considering I'm only 5'1", and Bubbles is barely taller than that. But her hubby was doing the trim at the ceiling later anyway, and she had an extender for the roller, the only problem was taking the window treatments down. Luckily Bubble's little brother came to the rescue. Balancing precariously on a paint can with a bum leg, he was able to reach. Of course, big sis was there to make sure he didn't lose his balance.

Here is me, I did the trim along the floor, windows, and doors. Bubbles herself did the rest of the walls with the roller. I was too busy trying not to let her catch up to get a picture of her. We did three out of four walls that night, then her and hubby finished it up later. I told ya, this chick was on a time schedule.

Here is a partially finished wall showing the bathroom. Isn't that red wall awesome?

Here is me putting the blinds back up the next day (with the stepladder someone finally remembered).

Is it just me, or do those jeans make my butt look big?

A Preview of Posts to come

I recently helped a friend do some painting and wallpaper removing in her new home. Stuff I need to do in my own new home, but she was on a time schedule and I'm going slow picking stuff out. I have pictures of our fun, here are a few to start you off. I will post more over the next week.

Here is my oldest watching and trying to not be in the way.

Here is my baby running in the basement den. The lime green and orange shag carpet was pulled up and replaced a few days after we took these pictures.

Here is the baby again. She seems to be telling me something, and looks oh, so innocent. This was just before we put her in a bedroom with lots of toys and a baby gate across the door so we could paint. She wasn't happy about that.

I'll post pictures of the painting tomorrow!

Fiction Friday~a day early

Ode to Thanksgiving

Grandma's in the kitchen,
Cookin' up turkey.
Brother's new girlfriend,
Is way too perky.

Momma left before dawn,
To hit sales at the mall.
Daddy's in the recliner,
Cussin' at football.

Sister brought vodka,
She'll be drunk before noon.
We all avoid Aunt May,
She's the family loon.

Spending time with family,
Is a reason for living.
And I almost forgot,
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Turkey
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction and not intended to resemble any actual family.

And a big Happy Birthday to Bubble's Daddy!

Baby coming!

No, not me! My sister is due next month, and this last Saturday was her baby shower. I have a few fun pictures to share.

Here is the Mommy-to-be!

Here is my oldest, being a big girl. She got to play the games and came in second place in one!

My little one has the cold again and was a little dopey on medicine at the beginning of the shower. Here she is on my youngest sister's lap.

Then she found the balloon decorations and perked up. Se that little bit of blue between the two bunches? That's her! She ran all over the place pulling one or both bunches behind her.

It's a boy!

Last night I had to go to a dinner hubby's company was giving. It was longish and mostly boring. A bunch of security police officers aren't the most exciting group of folks. Half of them are ex-military. Well, the company loves to give away door prizes and every couple was given a ticket at the beginning of the dinner. When dessert was served, they started giving the prizes out.

The first one was a radar detector. Big deal. Then they pulled up an iPod Shuffle. My interest perked a bit. Someone else won it. I told Jeff, "I want one of those", he said they had five. The second iPod goes to another guard. So then I stare intently at my ticket saying "iwannaanipod iwannaanipod iwannaanipod". Guess which number was next!! So hubby went to retreive my prize. He pointed out that technically, it was HIS prize. I pointed out that he didn't have to put on pantyhose for this dinner, I did, therefore, it is MY iPod. He didn't have an arguement for that.

So, I get the iPod home, and I'm trying to find the directions and it mentions ISB connector. I know what that is, but isn't there supposed to be a cord? I refer to the diagram, and then realize you take the bottom off the iPod, and voila, there is the connector. It looks like this:

When I first pulled the USB cap off I proclaimed "IT'S A BOY!!" Ok, I know, corny humor. But I still named him Viktor. And I now refer to my computer where I plug him in as Nadia.

I know, I really need to get out more. But isn't he cute!?!?!?

A joke

A cabbie picks up a nun. She gets into the cab, and notices that the very handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring. He replies: "I have a question to ask you, but I don't want to offend you." She answers, "My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive."

"Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me." She responds, "Well, let's see what we can do about that: "First, you have to be single and second, you must be Catholic." The cab driver is very excited and says, "Yes, I'm single and Catholic! OK" the nun says, "Pull into the next alley." The nun fulfils the cab driver's fantasy with a kiss that would make a hooker blush. But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying. "My dear child," said the nun, why are you crying?"

"Forgive me but I have sinned. I lied and I must confess, I'm married and I'm Jewish." The nun says, "That's OK. My name is Kevin and I'm going to a Halloween party."

Pictures from Halloween!

In this picture I was trying to capture my Halloween decorations with candlelight. In the process, I seem to have created an accidental alter to the goddess Bastet. She stays on the mantle year round, but always seems to manage to become the center of attention.

This is what the decorations look like with light. Lots of pumpkins, bears in costume, and witches.

The girls as Catwoman and Tinkerbell.

Little B finally out for her first Trick-or-Treat!

Dream a little dream...

Several nights ago I dreamed about the boy I had a huge crush on my senior year of high school. He wasn't gorgeous or anything, but he was cute. He was a basketball player, kinda tall and skinny with brown eyes and brown curly hair he kept short. He was funny, always cracking people up, and would sing in the halls between classes. He had a great voice. Weird how I can remember that many details after all this time. I never told him about the crush. Looking back now, I think he may have liked me a little too, but we were never more than classroom friends. It makes me wonder how differently my life might have turned out if I wasn't such a shy social retard.

Anyway in this dream I was sitting with some people, eating or something and he just came up to the table to say hello. I stood and he gave me a hug lifting me off my feet the way he did once in high school. The really strange part is that he had a short, neat beard. I don't even like beards and I never saw him with one. Then he left and the dream moved on. But that is the only part that stuck in my head. Even now, two days later, I can feel that hug. Maybe I just needed a hug and that was the best one my memories could find!

The dream made me start thinking about the different people over the years who have changed my reality. Some of them may not have ever known I existed, or forgot about me the moment I left their presence. That train of thought led me to wonder if I have ever made such an impression on anyone. Has anyone ever loved me from afar? Wished they had the nerve to talk to me? Or just wanted to get to know me better than they did?

We never know the extent that we effect the people around us.

No fiction this Friday

We are all over the colds here, but just barely. Because of that I haven't had time to come up with anything for fiction friday. Especially since I am now behind in all the laundry and cleaning that doesn't do itself when Mommy is sick.

I did have one accomplishment this week. My oldest (in third grade) had to write a paper and make a shoebox habitat for an animal. She picked the polar bear and I gave her an Animal Encyclopedia, and the regular encyclopedia for polar bears. She wrote an awesome paper! I helped her a little with grammar and had her move one part, then she rewrote it last night, and I helped her make the shoebox thing. We were so excited when I found the snow glitter! Simple habitat, blue and white paper, cotton ball clouds, a drawn iceberg (with snow glitter on it), and a polar bear printed off the computer.

DAMN! I just remembered I forgot to take a picture of it. I will get a picture later and post it! That reminds me, I haven't transferred Halloween pictures yet. *sigh* A mother's work is never done.

Update on the cold.

Little B is already better, just a few sniffles left. Unfortunately she shared it with me!

I love Internet quizes!

I came across this quiz at xmichra's blog.

goth culture and all it has to offer, but for
one reason or another, you aren't a part of it.
Don't worry, you aren't a poser. You aren't a

My poor baby is sick!

Not bad sick. Just a cold. But don't you hate it when they are little, and are sick, and they don't understand why they feel bad? She will be 22 months old on Sunday! When did she get so big? And silly too. She was just a little sick when she first woke up this morning. She had a stuffy nose at first, then it became a runny nose. I gave her some benedryl, and she played as usual. After her nap when I picked her up, she felt a little warm, and was just a bit lathargic. Poor baby!

I didn't want to give her milk because of the little fever, so I told her I would make her some tea. Now, this baby LOVES her tea. So I put her in her high chair, and go into the kitchen to make some (she can see me in there from her seat). I warm water in the microwave, while B says "tea!" about every twenty seconds. Water into sippy cup, tea bag in water, and I tell her it has to sit for a minute. When it is ready I add sugar and a bit more water to cool it, put the lid on it and sit it on the tray. B starts to pick up the cup but pushes it away and says "tea!" in an angry little voice. So I put a couple of ice cubes in the tea and shake the sippy cup until it is cold. Then I sit it on the tray. B touches the cup, says "tea!" in a now happy little voice, and drinks it down. Apparently she prefers her tea iced.

She's such a little southern belle.
